Common mistakes

Treating the bin area with bait alone. Bait stations near bins often show consumption without reducing activity, because the underlying pressure — food, harbourage, drainage access — is unchanged.

Filling burrows without trapping first. Collapsing a burrow with active rodents inside typically results in new holes nearby, or animals dying in place. Burrows should be trapped down before being closed.

Ignoring drainage. Missing floor waste covers, cracked gullies and disused pipework are frequently the actual entry point. Surface-level treatment cannot compete with an open drain.
